had a day off, my cuz timmy took a vacation day. got up early for dawn patrol. hit B & M early and loaded up on bait. the usual muds & shrimp but, I went ahead and grabbed some fiddlers and a few blue crab. hit the boat ramp and headed for the south jetti on the beach side for some flounder poundin. we weren't late for sunrise either.

 was really wanting some flounder or sheepshead to make a good meal(we ARE in a recession ya know) but, knew the reds were out there too. Low and behold we both hooked up on two

I also caught two shovelnose sharks about 4'. after a few small rock bass and still no flounder I decided (thats what capt's do, make the decisions) to make a run for it and go hit a flounder spot capt. mark was tellin me about. we were full of gas and had plenty of bait but, needed some finger mullet, that I knew we could pick up on the way. I wanted to be there on the outgoing and slack low tide so i had time and headed out. Didn't see much mullet on the way there but, when we got there they were plentiful. Cause of my rusty castnet skills and the fact that my first mate was crippled it took awhile and a few extra throws to pick some up. We finally succeeded and headed for the west bridge and anchored up just south of the channel. We threw out some mullet and crab and got settled in for a cold brew cause we were waiting for the slack low tide to start working some sandbars for doormats. While we were anchored tarpon were rollin all over the place. One actually broke water chasin mullett and skyrocketed with 3/4 of it out of the water.(almost landed in the boat) ffew minutes later Timmy's rod went off. He handled it well for a cripple thought he was gonna lose him around a bridge pilon but didn't and this is  the result. 33" red

 A lil bit later I lost a smoker that I never even got to turn his head. He took off and never looked back. Crp coulnd't get the anchor up before he got around the bridge. Not long after the excitement slack tide came and we headed for the sandbars. got a lot of hits on them but, never got a good hook set. I really believe  our finger mulletts were to big or we would have brought home some more dinner. all and all it was a "NizeAzz Day" with plenty of action. Definetly will be back. Nassau Sound update:  El Cheapo 2010

It was cold at 5:37 in the morning let me tell you.  The last thing we wanted was a long azz run.  We  put in 2 min from the first spot.  Man we fished the crap out of that place, through the tide shift and back.  Sometime at the early out going, I was waiting for a beverage, when my coozy blew off the back.  Dang that was my favorite coozy!  After hours of fishing hard with nothing but cold azz beverage hand fingers to show for it, we headed back.  We were about to take off when Rizzo spotted something... and there it was.....The Dang coozy come rollin back home to Daddy on the now incoming tide.  The only thing we caught all day....It was worth it.....cold but worth it...
